NEW YORK STATE CIRCULATION
MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, INC.

A Letter From The President

Dear Circulation Friends:

This will be our final issue before the annual Sales and Marketing Conference (Saturday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 19). I'd like to outline some additional details, and then I'll look for all registrations to arrive.

I'm proud to announce the first change in this year's agenda: NAA is joining our conference up front. They are hosting a full day on Saturday, May 15. The theme is Marketing Leadership, training that will be geared to all advertising and circulation executives. Registration is separate. However, for NYSCMA conference participants, an all-inclusive, discounted rate of $99 will be charged for the day. I strongly encourage you to look at adding Saturday to round out your experience.

Please look inside for both registrations, and set up your hotel accommodations at the same time. A regular room rate (single or double) of $105 is available to NYSCMA participants. Suites are available as well. Please inquire, but hurry to secure your room today!

We've opened our registration to neighboring sectionals: New England Association of Circulation Executives (NEACE) and InterState Circulation Managers Association (ISCMA). We'll also be welcoming our friends at the New York Newspapers Advertising and Marketing Executives (NYNAME). Networking is what our business is all about. Please personally invite your advertising coworkers to attend. They will also receive a mailing from NYNAME.

Look for a recap of the minutes from the fall board meeting inside. Feel free to comment on any agenda items to me or Bill. Don't forget your Hot Ideas! Send 100 copies to Mark Vinciguerra or Paul Felicissimo so they can prepare a packet for the Hot Ideas/Round Table session on Wednesday, May 19. Please participate - these sessions have been very helpful in the past.

I look forward to seeing you in May; many I'll speak with beforehand. Until then ...

Best Regards,

Nancy L. Breault
Your President

1999 NYSCMA Sales Conference Information

The 83rd Annual NYSCMA Sales Conference has been scheduled for Sunday May 16 through Wednesday May 19 at the Gideon Putnam Hotel and Conference Center, Saratoga Spa State Park. Also, we are fortunate to have a special NAA Conference, Building the Business Today, at this location on Saturday May 15. A registration form is included in this packet. We have planned informative, exciting and relaxing events to meet your personal needs:
The informative ...

First Vice President Will Kustyn has put together a super program featuring: Tony Marsella, motivational speaker and classified vice president NAA; Roger Samuel, publisher of the Flint Journal Interdepartmental Communication; Bill Truit of  Integrated Marketing Services Inc; Tony Mineart, single copy manager of The Washington Post; Eric Winn, single copy executive from the Dallas Morning News and a speaker for Staff Development Strategies for Human Performance Improvement.
We will have updates from the NYSCMA yearly programs: NAA, NYNPA and ABC. Networking, promotion displays, vendor displays, hot ideas sessions and round table discussions add to the opportunities for bringing back new and revitalized ideas to your home newspapers. The vendor area location will offer a great place for circulation personnel to meet and mingle with other conference attendees. Also, at the final breakfast, we will draw names for three grand prizes for visiting the vendor booths and you must be present to win!
Additionally, we are encouraging all vendors and newspaper representatives to bring giveaways for our traditional "goody-bags" and door prizes. Items may be sent to me or directly to the hotel.
The exciting...
Again we will host our annual golf tournament, sporting clays skeet shoot (separate sign-up sheet included), receptions, hospitality suite and the beautiful Canfield Casino.
The relaxing...
Take a trip to Saratoga's famous spa, featuring The Lincoln Mineral Baths and massages (information will be available at the reservation table), or try a sight-seeing tour with spouses and guests.
Save $25.00 if you mail your registration BEFORE April 10, and save an additional $25.00 per newspaper for promotion entries sent to Syracuse by April 2. Please reserve your room directly with the hotel by calling (800) 732-1560.
If you have any other questions about the conference, call me at (315) 792-5151. Hope to see you in May.

Sincerely,
Claudia Hartz
