Circulation Home Delivery Area Manager    

Full Time 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:   

The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram has an immediate opening for a Home Delivery Area Manager.  The HD Area Manager is responsible for upholding the highest standards for home delivery service by communicating with customers promptly and courteously in order to effectively resolve delivery issues, achieving service-related goals and meeting delivery deadlines.  The HD Area Manager is responsible for managing the independent contractor force which includes communicating with independent contractors on a daily basis in order to maintain delivery standards, preparing accurate contracts, enforcing contract conditions and processing related paperwork.  Additional job responsibilities include recruiting, training and supervision of part-time and full-time Circulation Helpers, maintaining route boundaries, and warehouse management of a Regional Circulation Depot. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·      Two or more years of circulation experience preferred or related management experience.
·     
Two-year associates or four-year degree in business or related field preferred.
·     
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
·     
Knowledge of or experience with independent contractor management preferred.
·     
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
·     
Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills required.
·     
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and proof of insurance.

HCPro Inc., is in search of a Circulation Manager to manage the day to day circulation requirements of their two magazine publications, HealthLeaders and Contemporary Long-Term Care.


As Circulation Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing annual circulation promotion plans
  • Creating and managing circulation budgets
  • Executing all promotion circulation efforts including Web-based, telemarketing, e-mail, and direct mail along with respective vendor relationships
  • Maintaining circulation production and goal reports
  • Management of fulfillment house relationship, monthly file updates and management
  • Managing BPA relationship and filing of audits and circulation statements
  • Coordinating ancillary audience development efforts with editorial, marketing, and online departments

Job Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • We are looking for a talented circulation professional with a minimum of 3+ years experience in controlled circulation management.

  • Candidates must have an understanding of BPA regulations, strong quantitative skills, and a working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access, and other analysis tools.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, a problem solver, and possess excellent time management skills.

Operations Manager

The Operations Manager at the Press & Sun-Bulletin oversees the home delivery and transportation departments. In home delivery there are two zone managers and fifteen DSMs. In transportation there is a manager, supervisor, three full time drivers and 41 part time drivers. This person would also oversee the alternate delivery manager. Daily circulation is about 54,000 and Sunday circulation is about 68,000. Upcoming and exciting is the new press and press/transportation facility that will be located in Johnson City, NY that will print the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, the Elmira Star-Gazette and The Ithaca Journal.
