1998 CARRIERS OF THE YEAR

JUNIOR DIVISION
PATRICK SUTPHEN
Patrick began delivering The Post-Star in Glens Falls in August of 1996. He delivers to 73 customers, carefully placing each paper in the most convenient location for the customer. He has gotten to know all of his customers personally, even inquiring about an elderly lady who had not picked her paper up in a few days. He also purchased a sympathy card for another who had just lost her husband. Some of Patrick's hobbies include remote controlled planes, biking and fishing. He enjoys football, film club, French, math and running errands for his neighbors.
SENIOR DIVISION
JACOB LADD
Jacob Ladd was awarded Senior Carrier of the Year for New York State. He has delivered The Post-Star in Glens Falls since May of 1996, increasing his route to 76 customers. Jacob's service is always excellent and his collections regularly scheduled. Jacob ranks number one in his class of 132, He works at his father's business in his free time and manages to be a preacher for his church. He enjoys camping, bicycling and sledding. Jacob plans on studying chemical engineering in college.
ADULT DIVISION
CHARLES DERBY
Charles Derby has delivered The Post-Journal in Jamestown for 25 years. His route has grown from 330 to 632 customers. He truly enjoys delivering newspapers and boasts of two million miles and one-half million newspapers delivered! He has enjoyed building friendships with many customers, watching young couples' children grow, go off to college, marry, and have families of their own. His hobbies include bowling, and he loves spending time with his grandchildren.
